Status Update
Over FY26, SBS awarded $300,000 in community development revitalization efforts to CBOs in and near the Jamaica area. We shared our FY27 grant opportunities with local community boards and the electeds in rezoning area, including holding information sessions on our grants. These efforts build on the partnership SBS has built with Business Improvement Districts and Merchant Organizing Associations in the area and help to continue to improve the commercial corridors in the rezoning area. Awardees of the grants will be notified in the coming weeks.

SBS will work with local community organizations to spread awareness of SBS grants and will work with any local partners who are selected as grantees of SBS Neighborhood Development grants to support efforts in the Jamaica Rezoning to enhance the corridors like neighborhood beautification and business support and retention. These efforts will build on the partnership SBS has built with Business Improvement Districts, Merchant Organizing Association, and other CBDOs in the area including, but not limited to, the Downtown Jamaica BID and the 180th Street BID.
