Status Update

NYCPS has been meeting regularly with several stakeholders since January to build out working groups around fundraising, program design, incubation space and employer partnerships.  The meetings have been in person at JFK, Brooklyn STEAM and virtually.

Statement from Source Document / POA

To further assemble components for a potential Queens STEAM Center, New York City Public Schools will work with other key stakeholders to form a Steering Committee that will start convening in early 2026. The City will also commit $15 million to catalyze additional monetary and in-kind contributions expected to come from other electeds and other partners.

Should the Steering Committee decide not to advance the project or should the requisite full funding for the project not be identified by the end of 2027, NYCPS and SCA will, in consultation with the community and Council Member, re-allocate these Capital funds to (an)other project(s) within the same Council District.

Funding: $15 million in City funding to catalyze additional funding streams
