Hiring for 10 new positions in the new Bureau of Queens Neighborhood Health is underway. Identified priority elements of the new Action Center space for renovation on Parsons Blvd including staff seating needs and a multi-purpose room.

Neighborhood Health Action Centers, which serve as place-based hubs of health education, community-based supports, and social services delivery, are intended to reduce health inequities and improve health outcomes across the city. The Health Department currently operates three of these centers located in Manhattan, the Bronx, and Brooklyn. The Health Department will launch a new Neighborhood Health Action Center in Jamaica, Queens and, based on availability of services, resources, and space constraints, could include services such as:
This new Queens Neighborhood Health Action Center will launch at a limited scale as a “phase 1” initially in existing space available at the Health Department’s Jamaica sexual health clinic facility, at 90-37 Parsons Blvd. If additional space in the building becomes available in future years, then the Health Department will seek to expand the Neighborhood Health Action Center footprint and services to include additional staff capacity, meeting spaces, a Family Wellness Suites, a community kitchen, and affordable workspaces for community-based organizations operating on-site as partners.
Funding: $7.3 million for buildout; $1.5 million in annual operations
