Status Update

HPD launched a new class series for faith-based organizations (FBO) about the affordable housing development process and had a strong turnout for a five-session FBO series in Spring 2026, which indicated interest and engagement within the community. The sessions were presented by HPD, Dept of Buildings, Dept of City Planning, Office of the Attorney General, and the Landmarks Preservation Commission. 16 Jamaica organizations participated and there were a total of 334 participants in the series. The feedback received was very positive and the next FBO series will begin in October 2026.

Statement from Source Document / POA

The City will host a series of at least four quarterly seminars for faith-based and other mission-driven organizations to walk participants step-by-step through the development process and establish necessary connections with the City agencies they will encounter when developing a housing project. The City will do targeted outreach to faith-based organizations in and around the Jamaica rezoning area on these topics. The seminars will be held virtually.
