Chapel of the Sisters is a landmarked building of significant architectural and historic value to the neighborhood of Jamaica. This 1857 chapel is located within the bounds of Prospect Cemetery, which was established in 1668 and contains graves of families significant to the early history of Jamaica and Queens at large. NYC Parks will make improvements to the chapel’s masonry and restore its roof, which is original and has never been replaced in the 168-year history of the building.
