Statement from Source Document / POA
NYCEDC and DOT are collaborating to create two new vibrant transit plazas at the intersections of Archer Avenue with 146th Street, Sutphin Boulevard, and 147th Place. By widening sidewalks, creating a new pedestrian plaza, realigning Archer Avenue at Sutphin Boulevard, improving traffic flow, the project will improve pedestrian safety, reduce traffic congestion, and improve conditions for more than 18,000 daily transit users that pass through the area. Additionally, the subway entrance at the eastern intersection of Sutphin Boulevard and Archer Avenue will be improved to alleviate crowding on the sidewalk. The project will also add upgraded lighting at the LIRR underpass, new signage and wayfinding, and new traffic signals and light poles.
