Statement from Source Document / POA

The City commits to contribute $7 million to the Council to be used for discretionary grants from the Council towards funding Capital Grants applications from the identified non-for-profit organizations for reconstruction and retrofits of basements to prevent flooding damage. These Capital Grants could be provided pursuant to the projects/applications being deemed capitally eligible and meeting the requirements of the non-for-profit capital discretionary grant program This would be done as part of the FY27 budget adoption process, with discretionary grant applications available in January 2026. In parallel, the City, through the Mayor’s Office for Climate and Environmental Justice, can provide technical assistance to agencies and nonprofits looking to apply to relevant State grant opportunities, such as DASNY’s BRICKS program.
