Statement from Source Document / POA
The City will work with local council members to share information with developers interested in learning more about how to coordinate their development projects with the City’s permitting processes, especially as it relates to water and sewer infrastructure. As part of that, DEP and DOB will provide educational materials for developers that are less familiar with City sewer connection approvals required by DEP and other building approvals required by DOB. This will include information on Site Connection Proposal (SCP) processes, the Unified Stormwater Rule, and on-site water reuse systems. On-site water reuse systems, which are most appropriate for larger systems, help recycle graywater on site and reduce the load that is being put on the overall sanitary sewer system and also help properties lower their water bills by through DEP rate reduction incentives and reduced overall water and sewer usage.
Particularly for affordable housing projects that involve public subsidies, the City will coordinate across agencies to provide streamlined technical assistance to support developers as they work their way through the building approval process.
