Statement from Source Document / POA

Southeast Queens has separated sanitary and stormwater sewer systems. To accommodate the housing growth anticipated through the Jamaica Neighborhood Plan, DEP will invest in upgrades to the area’s sanitary sewer infrastructure over the coming decades. The work will commence from Jamaica Bay Wastewater Resource Recovery Facility and progress north towards Downtown Jamaica, upgrading trunk sanitary sewers. This generational investment in civic infrastructure, committed during City of Yes for Housing Opportunity, is the first step in upgrading the 4-mile stretch of infrastructure that will help ensure Jamaica has room to grow for decades to come.

Funding: $315 million
